I was born and raised in Minneapolis, Minnesota. I have been married to a wonderful woman, Dela, for 43 years. Together we have four adult children and 13 grandchildren.
The Huss family left Minnesota in August of 1992 to venture south into Texas, destination Houston. I am an ordained Baptist minister in the Baptist General Conference and came to Houston as a national church planter to establish a seeker sensitive church touching the hearts of those who were wounded in their faith walk and in need of God's grace, giving them the hope of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
I have a servant's heart with the desire of witnessing the powerful language of God's love, touching the hearts of people through the dynamic venue of music. It is when the individual heart is filled with God grace and love that an awesome miracle unfolds through a new and reborn life.
I have played drums most of my life. My musical career began 25 years ago as the drummer in the praise and worship band at church.
In 2008 I joined Blues2Joy. We play to the homeless, the imprisoned and to wandering souls in general, which is a state we all find ourselves in at some point in our lives. I guess I receive more of a blessing from those we minister to as they say they receive from us.
The Blues2Joy Band is made up of more than just musicians. Our ranks include ordained and dedicated pastors who preach the Word of God and all are Brothers in Christ Jesus, my personal Lord and savior.

See the Webcast Page of this website for the portal to Dr. Lyon's "Faith and Science In the News" Webcast... ( Dr. Lyon's website is also linked in our RESOURCES section of this website "Faith & Science Apologetics")
Dr. Lyon is a retired scientist. He received his PhD in Biology from Kansas State University. This was followed by a postdoctoral fellowship with NIH and the USPHS at Tulane Medical School in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology as well as faculty appointments at other medical schools. After about 20 years in academia, he spent the last half of his career working in the business world.
He has been involved in numerous Christian ministries over the years and has always had an interest in faith and science apologetics. He presently teaches an adult Bible Fellowship class at The Church at Alden Bridge in The Woodlands, Texas. He has been involved in the teaching ministry at several churches over the years and enjoys bringing the conversation of faith and science to the webcast world with The Blues2Joy Ministry Project.
Raised in Houston, Texas into a religious home & attended church regularly with his family, he later discovered he had no real assurance of personal salvation. During his high school years, he attended an evangelical church with a girlfriend who challenged him to attend regularly. He heard the Gospel of Jesus Christ as he had never heard it before & just before his 18th. birthday he accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord & Savior. Happy to say that girl is his wife since 1970. Though life has sent some challenges his way, he has never regretted that decision.
He learned to play guitar at the age of 6 & went on to play in secular bands in the 1960’s sharing the stages with talents like B.J. Thomas, Bobby ‘Blue’ Bland & Albert Collins to name a few. After a gig with the US Army, he laid it down until the late 1980’s when he & a couple of Christian friends formed a Christian Acoustic Folk Group which evolved over the years to The Blues2Joy Ministry Project. [See Ministry Timeline below]. He retired from his profession as a Project Engineer in 2018 to focus his time & effort on the ministry project.

OUR BACKSTORY
The band featured seven Christian men.. who performed original songs with unique styles using positive, faith-based lyrics. The extremely catchy collection of songs also incorporated doo-wop, ballads, R&B, and even a Reggae from time to time. ”We try to communicate with music in a way that it doesn’t sound like what you normally hear in the traditional church, “(Ron Hathaway) ...In 1988, Songwriters/Musicians Ron Hathaway and Jim Massey joined together for a Christian outreach ministry in apartments, parks, homeless shelters, jails, and prisons.........
The originals [Hathaway-Massey] pursued their lifelong passion for evangelism, joined by other talented artists committed to solid Christian evangelism using contemporary music stylings. [Mike Wilson, Mike Pierce, Rob Harper, Robbie Adams, and Mike Huss] Each member of the band contributed over 45 years of gospel and commercial music experience, sharing stages with a long list of celebrity artists, including B.J. Thomas, Bobby ‘Blue’ Bland, Albert Collins, Gene Pitney, Nancy Honeytree, and The Kingsmen.
Blues2Joy enjoys relationships with local and international established churches, homeless shelters, prisons, and drug rehab centers, but also several other important ministries that are outside the periphery of these traditional organizations, such as international refugee camps, motorcycle clubs, custom auto shows, drag racing events, and organizations.
THE PRESENT VISION
Blues2Joy Has Now Entered a New Phase of Ministry...
=>Concert & Preaching Evangelism via "B2J " [A mobile DJ+Live Preaching & Music Ministry]. Find out more information about "B2J" from the Menu of this Website.
=>Sharing Bible Resources and Outreach are essential to our calling. Not only do we have awesome Bible Resource Links on this site, but the project is producing timely webcasts and other Evangelical offerings from Dr. Frank Lyon [Intelligent Design] and Pastor Michael Huss. These webcasts are designed to answer questions to life's challenges.
=>Global outreach Internet Radio we call "B2J Hope Radio"--All from right here on our website.
The old song adage, "What the world needs now is love sweet love..." perhaps if it's God's Love. We believe what the world needs is HOPE by faith in Jesus Christ. Our goal is to reach people through our media platforms and share this message of HOPE. [Jeremiah 29:11] "For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope."
We are a God-birthed ministry and we go into many Texas prisons and jails giving hope to the incarcerated (male & female) by preaching God's Word, sharing testimonies, and singing songs of praise & worship to remind them that there is hope for any and all in Christ Jesus.
Angel Tree is a Prison Fellowship program that gives parents behind bars a way to restore and strengthen relationships with their children through a tangible experience of God’s love—especially at Christmas.
PRISONS, HOMELESS, WORLD OUTREACH
The clear focus of the “ministries” of Burning Hope Ministries has been to those that are so often forgotten, looked over, perhaps even one might say, to the “invisible”.
